The Office for Access & Equity is excited to announce the launch of Inclusive Hiring at Illinois, a training program to educate faculty and staff on fostering inclusivity in our recruitment and hiring processes. This initiative highlights our collective commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable work environment at the University of Illinois.
Inclusive Hiring at Illinois was developed on campus with input from faculty and staff experts to meet the university’s unique needs and goals. It is a training program for EEO officers, vice chairs, search committees, hiring managers, and others involved in employee recruitment efforts. The training consists of a series of modules on the Canvas platform that provide each user with knowledge and skills directly relevant to their role in the recruitment and hiring process. This will help equip employees with the necessary tools to promote equity and inclusion while also ensuring compliance with the university’s Recruitment and Hiring Guidelines.
As an in-house initiative, Inclusive Hiring at Illinois is adaptable to changing needs. It can be updated regularly to respond to feedback and evolving requirements, ensuring its continued relevance and effectiveness.
The training content is the result of collaboration among experts from across campus. Their deep understanding of our institution’s distinct challenges ensures that the material is not only relevant but directly applicable to the roles and responsibilities involved in our university’s search process.
In addition to the campus leaders and faculty and staff experts who appear in the training modules or advised on the content, we’d like to express our gratitude to our partners in the Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning and Technology Services for their assistance in this initiative.
The Inclusive Hiring at Illinois training program will go live on August 19, 2024. The modules will be available to all employees on Canvas, and those needing to complete the trainings will receive an email notification with instructions.
